The Altar of Gold (Altar de Oro) in the Iglesia de San Jose - This is the Altar saved by a quick thinking priest. As the pirate, Henry Morgan, was coming to ransack La Vieja, the old Panama City, a priest had the Altar of Gold painted black so it would not be stolen. It is the only thing left of La Vieja besides the ruins. Henry Morgan got everything else. It now resides in a Church in Casco Viejo and is made of Mahogany and gold plating it is pre-1671
